First off,
I am BEYOND THRILLED to finally have a button! Yay! Erika made it for me and I love it.
I would LOVE for you to place my button on your blog.
If you get a chance to put it on your blog, let me know and I will add your button to my blog. =)
You can grab the code on the right hand side of my page.
Next, on to my decorating issues...
Because I got my job in the middle of the year, I had to quickly decorate and use a bunch of stuff the teacher before me left. I am SO excited about this summer, because it means that I have an entire 2 1/2 months to make my classroom my own. Since the final school bell rang last week, I have been thinking about my classroom nonstop.
The few things I purchased throughout the course of the spring were in the neon color scheme. I don't know why I went with that, but I did. Now, I am regretting it. HAH. I really hated the rug that was in my classroom, but lucky me, I was able to inherit another rug from another classroom. It is this colored square rug and it is SO much better then the one I had. I am beyond thrilled to get it.
The only problem? It is primary colors and not neon colors.... so that means a redo of my whole color scheme thoughts. I am a matchy, matchy person... so now I have decided I need to go with primary colors. I am having some MAJOR problems deciding which direction I want to go. These are a few things I found that I like, but I'm not sure they go with the rug. This is TOO much work. HAH.
So the questions of the day are:
Where do you get your classroom decor inspiration from?
What are your favorite websites for finding decor?
Do you have any AMAZING ideas for me?
Thanks,
Decorating Challenged Ms. Smith HAH! =)
Also, if you made it to the end of this post, one more question!
Would anyone be willing to look over a TpT item I just finished? It is the most lengthy project I have created and I would love for someone to look over it, proof it, and give me some feedback! Thanks. =)

ReplyDeleteHi there,
I was sure to add your new button to my blog :) It's under the "Blog Lovin'" tab.
Clutter Free Classroom has some GREAT classroom decor stuff. She even has some fun 31 inspired themes :) I got put into my classroom about 5 days before the beginning of the school year, so I've been doing nothing but thinking about redecorating as well haha

P.S. I'm not sure why my comments are being weird...haha sorry!
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at rugs on Amazon!! We are getting tile in our rooms so I will definitely need a rug!! Any suggestions on where to buy from?
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a rug like that one! My classroom rug is about 4 years old and I only paid $20 for it. It is starting to unravel..so I guess I need to look for a new one. I wish I could offer up some amazing ideas for classroom decor...I just get ideas from various blogs and pinterest.
ReplyDeleteIf you still need someone to proof, just let me know.

Nice rug! I'm going through redecorating in our room. I'm moving next door and decided to use it as an opportunity to shake things up. I'm moving to bright colors and polka dots. I have inspiration pics on my blog that show my process. I usually start by walking the fabric store and browsing paint chips.
ReplyDeleteI can help proof if you need it.

What a fantastic looking button and LOVE your new rug. I'm stuck with primary colors now too, as all my book bins are a bright red, so I'm thinking of doing a primary colored polka theme. I'd pick out the fabric and borders you would like to use from the craft store and teaching store and then go from there. You'll be amazed at all the little things you'll see while shopping that you'll just have to have to fit your theme. Once you have a vision, it's just comes together. Looking at others classrooms on blogs and pinterest should help too!

I'd love for you to add mine on your blog as well! I am enjoying reading your posts!
I had a hard time trying to decide what I was going to choose as my theme last year. I couldn't find anything that had "everything" I needed (calendar, jobs, labels, etc) so I went with Stars as my theme and bright colors. It has been super easy to make things match!

I am right there with you on entering the classroom half way through the year. I cannot wait to take over the classroom and make it over from top to bottom. Some of the places that I have found some amazing classroom decorating ideas are from Clutter Free Classroom and School Girl Style.
ReplyDeleteThat banner could be recreated and made using the specific colors in the rug rather than using the yellow use orange. I like that banner. It is cute. Polka dots might look cute in the different colors that are in the rug as well.
Good luck and have fun :)

I think the easiest way to redecorate is to change your rug. It is such a centerpiece of the room so I think changing it will change the feel of the room. I am looking to change my rug into something different like a shaggy rug to add a new look but also comfort!
