One thing I love about social studies and science is that my school doesn't have a strict textbook I have to follow (like we do for reading and math). This allows me to really use my own ideas and resources while following along with our state standards. I love teaching both Science and Social Studies so I really enjoy making my own resources for those subjects. So far this year my class has covered matter, and I created my own matter unit which is now available on TPT. It sells very frequently, so I am excited to see that other teachers are able to use my resources as well.
Currently in my classroom we are talking about Landforms. Landforms are a fun topic to talk about because students can relate to each landform and many students have seen or experienced the landforms we talk about. We started our unit by filling out a Landform mini-book and continued with several other activities. We will finish our unit with a short matching quiz and by decorating cookies with different colored icing representing the landforms we learned about. I uploaded my Landform Mini-Unit onto TPT this morning, so if you teach Landforms, check it out!
