January was CRAZY.
It started off pretty normally.
MLK weekend I jetted off to Nicaragua for a week.
It was AMAZING. We spent our days in villages leading VBS type activities.
...Eye opening for sure.
I was greeted back to the US with a ton of work at school
and some family health concerns. =(
This weekend was fabulous because I was able to spend some time with my family
and work on some TPT products I had thought up but hadn't put into action yet.
My favorite new addition to my store is my Elapsed Time Task Card/Scoot Activity.
My kiddos have really been struggling with elapsed time so I decided to make up some fun word problems that we could use in small groups or in a game of scoot. I laminated and cut them out today and we will begin using them tomorrow. There are 24 word problems and it comes with an answer sheet (and the answers). Thanks to some cute borders and clip art I downloaded they are super cute! =)

Elapsed time is always difficult..This year I chose to wait until the third quarter to teach it (it's usually taught in 1st quarter), it has made such a difference. The kids were able to grasp the concepts much easier. I teach elapsed time on a number line. If you check out my tpt store, I have a free common core elapsed time assessment I use.

Although I teach 2nd grade, we touch on elapsed towards the end of our "telling time" unit. I usually use my large Judy Clock to demonstrate the concept, then we practice with partners using the mini Judy clocks. I am definitely looking for more resources to teach this concept as it is VERY difficult!
